Interior Minister meet with US Ambassador

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan Major-General Abdusalom Azizov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of USA in our country Pamela Spratlen.

The sides discussed issues of further strengthening relations and expanding cooperation in maintaining stability and security in the region among law enforcement agencies of the two countries, including through Interpol, as well as further development of cooperation in the framework of the implementation of the road map.

Ms. Spratlen delivered a proposal to hold a joint exercise to simulate the emergency situation and on the enhancement of cooperation of law enforcement agencies of the two countries in counteracting drug trafficking and human trafficking, the fight against terrorism.

-We appreciate the efforts of departments to ensure reliable protection of the diplomatic mission in your country and we will never forget the feat of your employee, who was killed in a terrorist attack on the Embassy of our country in 2004. And we are confident that your employees are doing everything possible to fend off threats, – said Ms. Spratlen.

An information about measures to combat corruption, preventing the abuse of authority and violation of law by agency staff, the role of interaction of internal affairs bodies with the media in ensuring the transparency of activities of law enforcement agencies aroused great interest of guests.

At the end of the conversation, held in an open, constructive dialogue, the sides expressed satisfaction with the outcome of negotiations on issues of mutual interest.
