Law on patronage comes into force in Uzbekistan

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the law "On patronage" on October 16.

Patronage is a charitable activity carried out by individuals and legal entities in the field of culture, art, science, education, and other activities related to the development of culture and art, according to the Law.

Individuals and legal entities have the right to freely carry out patronage activities on the basis of voluntariness and freedom of choice of its purposes.

Patronage activity is carried out on the basis of the contract concluded between the patron and the recipient of patronage support.

Also, according to the Law, the state supports philanthropic activities by providing patrons with benefits and preferences on taxes and other mandatory payments and tariffs.

Patronage activities cannot be carried out at the expense of the State budget.

This Law shall enter into force from the date of its official publication.
