State policy on cooperation with compatriots abroad gets approval

A presidential resolution has approved the main objectives of the state policy of Uzbekistan in the sphere of cooperation with compatriots. Among them:

- assistance in the implementation of the rights and freedoms of compatriots abroad in accordance with generally recognized principles and norms of international law, the legislation of the country of residence and on the basis of international treaties of the Republic of Uzbekistan;

- support for the activities of compatriots aimed at the wide dissemination of cultural, scientific and spiritual heritage of Uzbekistan, its study and promotion in the world, the preservation and development of the Uzbek language, culture and traditions in the countries of residence of compatriots, expanding their educational opportunities in Uzbekistan;

- development and strengthening of relations with compatriots and organizations created by them, wishing to contribute to the socio-economic development of the Republic of Uzbekistan and to promote the development of its mutually beneficial and friendly relations with foreign states;

- creation of favorable legal, social and economic conditions for the implementation of professional, including entrepreneurial, investment, scientific, educational and cultural activities on the territory of Uzbekistan by compatriots;

- attracting the potential of compatriots to support the large-scale socio-economic and socio-political reforms carried out in Uzbekistan, to contribute to the further strengthening of the international image of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
