Today in social networks, the Minister of Health's statement that "If you treat the patient with kindness, he will be pleased and will give to you" is causing a lot of discussion regarding the proposal on improving the conditions of doctor services. The Public Council under the Anti-Corruption Agency expressed an official reaction to the minister's proposal.
It is noted that the public council supports the work of the MoH leadership to prevent corruption. However, the recognition of money given by patients as one of the ways to motivate doctors was noted as an action contrary to the law and the policy of fighting corruption in the country.
"This proposal will cause an increase in the number of corrupt crimes in the system, decrease in the status of the medical profession and people's trust in the health care system," the report said.
The public council stated that the main goal of the ministry should be to eliminate illegal behaviour such as taking money from patients (whether voluntary or not) and introducing a classified payment mechanism in the promotion of doctors.
It was announced that public control will be established over this issue.
