Bustanlik district of Tashkent region to become a new hotspot for tourists

Projects worth hundreds of millions of dollars will be implemented in the coming years in the Bostanlyk district of Tashkent region. The district, famous with its mountains and beautiful nature, according to Mirziyoyev, has enormous untapped potential. However, available opportunities have not been properly used for many years.

- Our main goal is, first of all, to ensure the rule of law in the field of tourism, create spacious, inexpensive, safe and comfortable recreation areas able to house guests all year round.

According to available data, Uzbek citizens spend about 1.2 billion dollars on holidays abroad every year, while the number of modern tourist complexes in the country itself is insufficient.

Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the objects set to be commissioned in the Bostanlyk district in the coming years.

One of the largest is the project “Beldersay-Chimgan-Nanay”. The concept and economic model of the project were developed by a consortium of French companies with a grant from the FASEP Foundation in the amount of 750 thousand euros.

The total cost of the project is 480 million dollars, including direct investments worth 280 million dollars.

The project consists of three stages. The first involves the creation of an all-season resort in the Chimgan region. In particular, suspension bridges, ski trails and amusement rides will be built using a preferential loan from France in the amount of 48 million euros. The first phase of the project will be launched in December next year.

New resorts will also erect in the villages around the Charvak reservoir.

In addition, about 80 objects are planned to be privatized in the Bostanlyk district. This will reduce the state share in the tourism sector and give an impetus to the development of private entrepreneurship, and will create up to 15 thousand new jobs.

Increasing the flow of tourists also requires rational waste management. It is estimated that the Bostanlyk district generates an average of 102 tons of household waste per day. Unfortunately, due to the low level of recreation culture, waste is not collected and left in nature.

To solve this problem, it is planned to increase the number of waste collection points and the number of special equipment, as well as to establish the work of the eco-Inspectorate.

The President also instructed to repair the existing electricity networks, build facilities for generating electricity from water, wind and solar energy, and provide 50 percent of the needs of tourist sites with these sources.

In conclusion, Mirziyoyev set a goal to double the tourist potential of the district in the next two years.
