Tashkent subway marks 42 years
Tashkent metro turned 42 years old on November 6. This is the most beautiful metro not only for us –the authoritative publisher Lonely Planet called the Tashkent metro one of the most beautiful in the world. The British air force recently published an article with a story about the design of our stations. In the 60s, personally Sharaf Rashidov persuaded Brezhnev to build a metro and he managed to get support - and after the successful construction, the first stations of the Chilanzar line were commissioned.

Brief about Tashkent metro
The first line of the Tashkent metro, later called Chilanzar, 12.2 km long with nine stations was launched on November 6, 1977. On 18 August 1980, three more stations on the same line were opened. The total length of the entire line is 16.8 km.
Today the length of three metro lines with 29 stations is 36.2 km.
