Open Data Challenge 2017 announces winners

Inha University in Tashkent (IUT) held awarding ceremony of Open Data Challenge 2017 – a competition to develop apps, services and solutions for the visualization based on open data.

Hackathon Open Data Challenge was held from 30 November to 3 December 2017 in the building of the University. The competition involved more than 400 people.

In the framework of the hackathon, 63 teams presented their social (47 projects) and business projects (16 projects) to the jury. Each team was given a few minutes to present their projects.

According to the jury decision, the SAVE IT team became the winner in the nomination "Best business project based on open data".

The SAVE IT team has developed a mobile app and Telegram-bot. This service allows users to obtain information about discounts for goods with expiring shelf life. The project will allow the stores to sell their products and reduce costs and waste, while consumers will be able to save money.
