National heroes honored

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the “Millat Fidoylari” Alley in Victory Park. This monument, created on the initiative of the President, honors the memory of military and law enforcement officers who died defending Uzbekistan during the years of independence.

From above, the complex is shaped like the crescent moon and twelve stars found on the national flag. The nearly two-meter-wide stars have golden inscriptions of the names of 196 national heroes. Next to these, monitors display photos and videos that tell the stories of the fallen heroes — their childhood, dreams, work, and families.

At the center of the alley is a miniature amphitheater shaped like the crescent moon from the flag. Water, symbolizing purity, flows above it. Behind the moon is a sculptural composition showing a parent sending their child off to military service. On either side are figures representing the Defense, Internal Affairs, and Emergency Ministries, as well as the Supreme Court, the Prosecutor’s Office, the State Security Service, the Customs Committee, and the National Guard.

The President met with the families of fallen servicemen and emphasized the importance of honoring their memory. He called for memorial events in their hometowns, encouraging young people to learn about their courage and for writers to create works about their heroism.

President Mirziyoyev also visited World War II veterans and labor front participants to congratulate them on the holiday. The veterans expressed gratitude, noting the country’s deep respect for history and for the elderly, and offered prayers.

According to a presidential resolution dated February 19, war and labor veterans are being honored with financial rewards and services. World War II veterans and disabled persons receive one-time payments of $10,000. Those with similar status receive 25 million soums, and labor front participants receive 3 million soums. Many are also awarded the "80th Anniversary of Victory in the Second World War" medal.

In addition, they receive medical care, social support, and sanatorium treatment upon request. Government agencies and military units are working together to check on the well-being of families of fallen soldiers and officers and to provide assistance.
