Unusual artifacts found in Samarkand

Ancient artifacts with inscriptions in Arabic have been found in Samarkand. The two unusual stone slabs were discovered during the dismantling of objects located near the airport.

One was made of white marble, with ayahs 254 and 256 from Sura Al-Baqarah carved on its top and sides. It was found that the tombstone also had the inscription "Aqilah Bibi" on it. Since some parts of the gravestone are poorly preserved, it was not possible to obtain information about the time of burial and the full name of the person to whom the tomb belonged-the Cultural Heritage Agency has reported.

The second tomb is smaller and made of black marble with an inscription saying Hijra 1049 (1659). It is not yet known to whom this tomb belonged. So far, scientists believe that tombstones date back to the 17th century.

"The tombstones were delivered to the Samarkand Museum of Local Lore. Research on them is currently ongoing. We will provide detailed information on the results of the research," the agency reported.
