Uzbekistan enters list of world’s top ten gold producers

Uzbekistan has entered the list of the world’s top ten gold producers, according to data unveiled by the World Gold Council on June 23.

Uzbekistan produced more than 101.6 tons of gold in 2020 and was placed 8th largest gold producer in the world.

Earlier this year, Muruntau, located in Uzbekistan's Navoi region, was affirmed as the world's biggest gold mine, according to a rating compiled by the Kitco analytical centre.

China was named the leader in terms of gold production, as the world’s most populous state sold some 368.3 tonnes of precious metal last year. Russia was ranked second (331.1), with Australia (327.8) closing the top three
