Uzbekistan establishes solar and wind power plants

On May 11, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a video selector meeting to discuss the energy supply issues and the introduction of renewable energy sources in the regions.

In January-April of this year, an additional 726 mln kilowatt hours of electricity was produced.

This year there will be a shortage of 3 billion 400 million kilowatt hours of electricity, and the daily demand for it on hot summer days may reach 255 million kilowatt hours from the current 195 million kilowatt hours.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the measures to cover this demand and ensure the continuous operation of electric networks.

Officials gave information about the commissioning of 2,000-megawatt solar and wind power plants this year, and the installation of 1,200-megawatt solar panels at enterprises, homes, and social facilities.

To encourage this industry, President signed a decree on the introduction of the "Green Energy" certificate system. In this case, from July 1, a "green" certificate will be issued for electricity produced at hydroelectric power stations. This system will be implemented from October 1 for all electricity from renewable energy sources.
