Winrock International opens representative office in Uzbekistan

The Ministry of Justice has registered a branch of the Winrock International Institute for Agricultural Development (Winrock International) in Uzbekistan. Its head office is located in the U.S.

The branch mainly focuses on contributing to improving nutrition and socio-economic well-being, improving the production of food, fiber and fuel, including livestock, non-food products, distribution and rational use of natural resources.

The branch will also assist in the implementation of the project "Safe Migration in Central Asia" (SMICA, 2019-2024), funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The budget of this project, which aims at preventing human trafficking, protecting survivors, promoting safe migration, reducing the vulnerability of the at-risk population to all forms of human trafficking, as well as improving the identification and assistance of victims of human trafficking in Uzbekistan, is more than $2.3mn.
