Uzbekistan will play its first match against Turkmenistan
Uzbekistan's national football team has made it to Group E of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. There they will compete with Iran, Turkmenistan, and the winner of the pair, Hong Kong. According to the results of the draw, Uzbekistan will play its first match against Turkmenistan on November 16.
The qualifying matches will continue in March 2024, when Uzbekistan will play matches against the winner of the Hong Kong/Bhutan pair, followed by return games against Turkmenistan and Iran in June. The top two teams from each group will advance to the next round of selection and secure their participation in the final stage of the 2027 Asian Cup.
The 2026 World Cup, which will be held in Canada, the United States, and Mexico, will feature 48 national teams in the final stage of the tournament. The Uzbekistan team will be aiming to secure their spot in the competition and compete on the global football stage.
