Archbishop Giovanni D'Aniello appointed new Vatican Ambassador to Uzbekistan
The Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov on October 6 received the newly appointed Apostolic Nuncio of the Vatican in Uzbekistan, Archbishop Giovanni D'Aniello.
Accepting the credentials, Minister Kamilov congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to a responsible post.
The sides focused on the accumulated positive experience of a partnership between Uzbekistan and the Vatican, aimed at strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between people of different nationalities and faiths.
Mutual interest was expressed in further strengthening and activating interfaith dialogue at various levels.
In particular, the Apostolic Nuncio got acquainted with the work carried out in Uzbekistan to strengthen interethnic harmony and religious tolerance, the full protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens, including the spiritual sphere.
Archbishop D'Aniello is 66 years old. He was born on January 5, 1955, in the Italian city of Aversa. He received his philosophical and theological education at the Interregional Seminary in Salerno and at the Campano Pontifical Seminary in Naples. Speaks Italian, French, English, Portuguese and Spanish.
