Healthcare initiatives between Uzbekistan and UAE exceed $100 mln

Uzbekistan and the UAE have signed 15 agreements and contracts across various sectors of the economy. These include several agreements in medicine and pharmaceuticals. Deputy Minister Farhad Tashpulatov held multiple meetings with Emirati companies to discuss collaboration. 

The investment company Ittihad International Investment signed a $70 million public-private partnership project. In the first phase, all 14 district medical associations in Fergana region will be equipped with multi-slice CT scanners. An additional 86 scanners will be procured for medical facilities in other regions.

Specialized reading centers will be established in each region to analyze CT images from districts and cities. The agreement also includes training specialists to operate the MSCT systems.

Another agreement with Burjeel Medical City involves building a rehabilitation center at the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care, with investments of up to $30 million. Additionally, the Emirati clinic will manage the recently constructed Mother and Child Hospital in Nukus and participate in the tender to manage the Specialized Scientific and Practical Oncology and Radiology Center.

The Ministry of Health also reached an agreement with Plenary to build a 400-500-bed multidisciplinary hospital in Nurafshan, fully equipped with modern technology. Talks with M42 focused on establishing a genetic laboratory in Uzbekistan.
