President receives Senate Delegation of Pakistan
On April 7, as part of the program of the 150th Anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the delegation of Pakistan, headed by Chairman of the Senate Yusuf Raza Gilani.
At the beginning of the meeting, the distinguished guest conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to the leader of Uzbekistan.
The sides noted the growing momentum in the development of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. Trade turnover is steadily increasing, the number of joint ventures and direct flights is on the rise, and regular business forums and exhibitions involving leading companies from both countries are being held.
Special attention was given to enhancing the role of parliaments in ensuring the effective implementation of agreements reached during the recent historic high-level visit to Uzbekistan.
The importance of accelerating priority projects and programs in the trade, economic, investment, and transport sectors was emphasized—particularly the advancement of the Trans-Afghan Corridor project. The two sides also discussed expanding interregional cooperation and humanitarian exchange.
