Population in Uzbekistan to reach 40 million by 2030
During a seminar in the Senate, concerns were raised about Uzbekistan’s population growth that to reach 40 million by 2030. This growth, considered an "internal danger," has increased by 15 million in the past 30 years, surpassing 36 million.
The seminar, focused on "Ensuring food security and supporting the sustainable development of agriculture," discussed the internal risks associated with high population growth rates.
Reports from ministries and agencies highlighted the efforts to meet the nutritional needs of specific demographics, improve food production, and boost the income of producers. The seminar also emphasized measures to increase investment through sustainable food production systems, capacity building, scientific research, and international cooperation.
The negative consequences of rapid population growth were addressed, including food security issues, decreased productivity, water scarcity, land degradation, and increased diseases. Proactive measures were stressed, such as managing water resources, implementing water-saving technologies, and addressing land degradation and desertification trends to support the sustainable development of agriculture and environmental sustainability.
