Uzbek government introduces textbooks of ‘new generation’

A large-scale presentation of textbooks of a 'new generation', created on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was hosted in Tashkent. The Head of State personally assessed the result. A special working group of the Presidential Administration presented a new generation of textbooks for grades 1-4. The event was attended by textbook developers, teachers, methodologists, children's school psychologists, and representatives of national and foreign mass media.

In the course of familiarization with the textbooks of the new generation, the President observed a demonstration lesson in which international methods are tested in practice. It is demonstrated how students gain knowledge with the help of modern gadgets. Because today our society is directly dependent on technology and gadgets. Therefore, efforts are being made to effectively use modern communication tools in the educational process so that students can master knowledge in a playful way.

"Today our youth, the children themselves demand: "We don't need yesterday's education. We are planning our reforms and setting ourselves big goals. They are easy to talk about, but difficult to do. However, no matter how difficult it is, we must try to implement these reforms for our children”- Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted

When developing textbooks, standard tasks were studied and taken as a basis, which is used by international programs for assessing student achievement (PISA, PIRLS, TIMSS, EGMA, EGRA). The teaching materials include a complete set of materials for an active educational process: textbooks, workbooks, and teaching aids for teachers. Also, the Estudy electronic educational platform is harmoniously integrated into their system. It contains courses in subjects such as mathematics, natural science and computer science, and more than 300 educational game tasks to consolidate the acquired knowledge. The platform can be used both during the lesson and in your free time. With its help, students can not only consolidate the material they have passed but also independently stay ahead of the program. The platform is hosted on the TAS-IX network, which makes this resource free to use. In addition, the UMK includes an interactive training program with a collection of educational games in Uzbek and Russian for Android and iOS platforms and mobile applications "Mathematics" and "Primer".

Some textbooks for grades 1-3, in particular on fine arts, Uzbek language and music literacy, are developed using augmented reality technology. This is done in order to make students more interested in studying the subject and to turn gadgets, without which modern teenagers cannot imagine their lives, into useful tools. The augmented reality app is downloaded 1 time and works offline. Another important feature is that these textbooks teach not only subject knowledge but also life skills that are necessary for the 21st century. At the same time, they are designed with mandatory consideration of age psychology. So, in the first grade, a game approach is used more, information is given to children more through visual and imaginative perception, etc.

As a supplement to the educational and methodological complexes, more than 200 multimedia materials on education, physical culture, technology and fine arts have been prepared. Educational videos are designed to form and strengthen interest in the educational and cognitive activities of students. 14 pilot schools were selected in the republic, in which it is planned to conduct training according to new textbooks from the next academic year. Their teachers passed training seminars, where they mastered new teaching methods. Technical and infrastructural standards for all secondary educational institutions of the country will be compiled on the example of these schools.

At the end of the official part of the event, Shavkat Mirziyoyev informally talked with teachers. During the conversation, the head of state listened to the suggestions and wishes of teachers and once again assured them that education will always be given the highest priority in New Uzbekistan.
