To enhance water management, Uzbekistan has implemented improving irrigation system efficiency from 0.63 to 0.73. Decreasing irrigated lands with low water supply from 560,000 to 190,000 hectares. Reducing saline irrigated land areas by 226,000 hectares. Lowering electricity consumption by pumping stations by 25%. Expanding water-saving technologies, covering 2 million hectares, including drip irrigation on 600,000 hectares.
The Ministry of Water Management oversees these efforts, with assistance from foreign experts. Projects are financed through external debts, and their effectiveness is reviewed annually.
Savings from these initiatives will be used to modernize water supply facilities, improve infrastructure, and gradually increase industry workers' wages. Additionally, training programs for personnel in water resources management will be enhanced.
