Uzbekistan conducts experiments on land restoration and crop cultivation
On April 10, the Minister of Agriculture Aziz Voitov met with Israel's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Uzbekistan Zehavit Ben Hillel. The parties discussed several areas to cooperate in the field of agriculture.
In his speech, Aziz Voitov proposed to focus on many directions for further development between the two countries. The first is land development. In Uzbekistan, on the place of the Aral Sea, the world's youngest Aral Kum desert has emerged. This phenomenon forces us to look for ways to prevent similar environmental disasters in the future. One of the steps was to involve experts and technologies from Israel in the fight against the arid and saline lands of Aral Bay. Thus, Uzbekistan offers to allocate a plot of land free of charge for the first experimental project on land restoration and crop cultivation in the Aral Bay region.
The second important point in the cooperation between the two countries is the development of water-saving technologies. Uzbekistan is interested in attracting Israeli technologies to save water resources. The next item is cooperation in the field of science. Today, Uzbekistan has established cooperation with the Israel International Cooperation Agency (MASHAV) and the International Cooperation Center for Agricultural Development (SINADCO) on the organization of joint training and seminars in our country and in Israel.
At the end of the meeting, the two countries agreed to hold an open dialogue to promote projects in the agriculture sector and implement them through joint efforts.
