Uzbekistan welcomes 99 new IT companies

In September 2024, Uzbekistan saw the number of exporting members increase by 66 companies, 29 of which have foreign capital. This growth highlights the country's ongoing development as a center for IT service outsourcing, attracting interest from foreign companies and boosting local IT exports to international markets.

A total of 99 new IT companies joined IT Park in September, with 29 established by foreign investors from countries such as the United Kingdom, Singapore, India, Malaysia, and Germany. Among these new members, 66 companies are focused on exports. According to their business plans, they are expected to create over 700 jobs for local specialists in their first year.

The total number of exporting members now stands at 936, with 574 being foreign companies. The primary sectors for these new members include outsourcing services, software development, proprietary software implementation, and creative industry services.

The new export-oriented members are targeting markets in the United States, Germany, Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom, Singapore, China, South Korea, Japan, and the UAE. There is growing interest in Uzbekistan's IT sector from countries in the Asia-Pacific region, especially Singapore and Malaysia. Foreign companies are setting up back offices and outsourcing centers in Uzbekistan to manage international orders and establish headquarters for market expansion. This strategy supports export growth and attracts local talent, positively impacting the development of the IT ecosystem and job creation.

For instance, the Singaporean company plans to open an office in Uzbekistan to provide outsourcing IT services, primarily aimed at export markets in China and other Asian countries, with an expected export volume of $1 million. Additionally, the Malaysian company is preparing to establish an office in Uzbekistan with up to 110 employees. This firm specializes in outsourcing IT services and is looking at the United States, Germany, India, and Malaysia as key export markets, also anticipating an export volume of $1 million.

The arrival of large international corporations not only boosts exports but also creates job opportunities for local specialists, enhancing Uzbekistan's global standing. The increase in foreign investments confirms the effectiveness of support programs, establishing the country as a significant player in the IT service market. These developments contribute to economic growth, job creation, and the improvement of professional skills, aligning with Uzbekistan's goal of becoming an international IT hub under the Digital Uzbekistan — 2030 strategy.
