Uzbek athlete sets new record at Paralympic games in Paris
At the 17th Paralympic Games, Uzbek para-athletes won several medals. Bobur Omonov, competing in the shot put, once again proved his dominance in F41 class. He broke his own Paralympic record from Tokyo with a throw of 14.32 meters.
Niko Kappel from Germany secured the silver medal with a throw of 13.73 meters, while Huang Xun of China took bronze with 11.66 meters. The Science Club of Uzbekistan helped motivate Omonov even further.
Doniyor Saliev from Uzbekistan won a silver medal in the T12 class long jump at the Paralympic Games, recording a distance of 7.16 meters. Said Najafzoda from Azerbaijan took gold with a jump of 7.27 meters, while Fernando Vasquez from Argentina finished third. For reference Doniyor Saliev won a bronze medal at the Rio Paralympic Games. His silver in Paris was his second medal.
On the 5th day of the competition, Uzbek para-athlete Nurkhan Kurbanova competed in the shot put finals for the F54 class and won a bronze medal with a best throw of 7.75 meters. Elizabeth Gomez from Brazil took silver with a distance of 7.82 meters, while Mexico's Gloria Sarsa claimed gold with a world record throw of 8.02 meters. Kurbanova still has a chance for gold in the upcoming javelin events. We wish her the best of luck in her future competitions. Kurbanova previously won silver and bronze medals at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
