Uzbekistan national football team started Olympic games in Paris
Uzbekistan’s national football team started its participation at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris. First match in group was against Spain. Uzbek national football team started the game very active with new tactics.
At the beginning of the game, Uzbek football players created several opportunities to score, but the final shot was missing. In contrast, the Spain team, despite not having many chances, scored the first goal of the match. However, at the end of the first half, Eldor Shomurodov from Uzbekistan equalized the score from penalty kick, becoming the first player to score a goal for Uzbekistan's national team at the Olympic Games.
In the second half, Spanish team had a chance to kick a penalty but Uzbek goalkeeper Abduvohid Nematov made a save. Three minutes later, Sergio Gomez, who missed the penalty, still managed to score, making it 1-2. Uzbek Olympic team, led by Temur Kopadze, started the tournament with a loss. In Group C, there are still matches against Egypt and the Dominican Republic.
