Young chess player from Uzbekistan becomes World Chess Champion

Afruza Hamdamova, a chess player from Uzbekistan, has become the first female world champion in the under-14 age category at the World Youth Chess Championship in Italy. Regardless of the final round's outcome, Afruza secured the championship by defeating her only competitor, a chess player from Kazakhstan, in a decisive match.

This victory makes Afruza the first-ever world champion among girls from Uzbekistan. Before her, Gulruhbegim Tahirjonova and Bahora Abdusattorova had previously won silver medals in their respective age categories.
