EU allocates 6 million euros to boost agriculture in Uzbekistan

The European Union has allocated 6 million euros to support the development of agriculture in Uzbekistan, as reported by the EU delegation in the country. This funding is a result of Uzbekistan's commendable progress in agricultural reforms and maintaining macroeconomic stability.

In line with the agreement between the European Union and the Uzbekistan government, a total of 20 million euros will be provided to assist in implementing the National Agricultural Development Strategy for 2020-2030. Further grants are anticipated for this year and the next.

"We are concentrating on reforms that enable farms to grow, adapt to climate change, preserve the environment, and integrate into local and global value chains. These funds, coupled with other EU initiatives like GSP+, will facilitate increased exports to the European Union," stated Charlotte Adrian, the EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan.

The sustainable agro-food sector is among the three key priorities outlined in the European Union's long-term indicative program for Uzbekistan (2021-2027). The other priorities include good governance and inclusion, as well as environmental and digital growth. Since 2021, nearly 76 million euros have been allocated to Uzbekistan as part of this program.
