Mirziyoyev orders to modernize public transport

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a meeting held on November 30 demanded to provide safe and convenient transportation between cities, districts and villages that should satisfy passengers.  

According to estimates, only 22% of the Uzbekistan population choose public transport.

Mirziyoyev instructed the ministries of finance and transport to develop a reimbursement scheme of transport enterprises serving intra-district routes. Starting from the next year, this new system will be implemented in one of the districts of each region.

Mirziyoyev stressed on to revamp public transport routes in Samarkand and to develop a draft plan for creating a convenient transport system in the historical city. Similar tasks will be prepared for 30 cities of the country with the involvement of teachers and students of the transport university.  

- For many years there was no scientific approach to transport and logistics issues. Lack of intellectual staff is the most acute problem, Mirzoyoyev said.

He noted that the buses running between the district and regional centers are outdated, some of them are in operation longer than the expected service life. The degree of provision with buses per 100 thousand people is 24. In Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya, Namangan and Andijan regions, this figure is below 15.
