Uzbekistan begins construction of warehouse terminal in Poti, Georgia
Uzbekistan has initiated the construction of a large multifunctional terminal in the Poti Free Industrial Zone, according to "Smart Press." The project spans 30 hectares, with a total investment estimated at approximately $18.3 million.
The first phase involves building a warehouse for frozen products with a capacity of 1,000 tons. Subsequent phases include a 5,000-square-meter closed warehouse for general cargo, followed by a bulk cargo warehouse and a terminal for large and container cargo.
The terminal will facilitate the export of goods from Uzbekistan to Europe and enable the import of European products to Uzbekistan and Central Asia. David Ebralidze, director of the Poti SEZ, noted that negotiations with Uzbek partners lasted a year, emphasizing the strategic importance of the initiative for both parties.
Established in 2008, the Poti Free Industrial Zone offers significant tax advantages, including a zero tax rate on VAT, profits, dividends, property, and imports, benefiting from its proximity to Georgia's largest port.
