Uzbekistan finds 133 tons of gold reserves in new deposit

Uzbekistan has discovered a new deposit with 133 tons of gold reserves, the State Committee for Geology and Mineral Resources said on Friday.

According to Asror Rustamov, head of department at the Committee, several new deposits were registered throughout the republic in 2020. Among them, the Chukurkuduk deposit with 133 tons of gold. Another deposit with estimated reserves of 70-80 tons was also transferred to the state balance.

“A polymetallic deposit "Chinorsoy" contains not only lead but also metals with reserves of gold and silver. We have registered large-scale reserves of tungsten in the Sarykul deposit on the border of the Samarkand and Kashkadarya regions. This year, the committee was allocated $114.8mn to buy new equipment and carry out scientific work", - Rustamov said.

“A large copper mine in Almalyk will also open soon. More than 200,000 tons of copper reserves have been transferred to the state balance”, he added.
