Uzbekistan reveals statistics on uranium production
According to him, the first place in uranium production by companies is occupied by Kazatomprom - 11 thousand tons. This is 20.5% of the total world production. The Kazakh company is followed by the French Oralni - 5,8 thousand tons (10,8%).
Uzbekistan ranks fifth in the world in uranium production with a volume of 3.5 thousand tons per year, Deputy General Director of the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine Nurmat Julibekov told the Economic review magazine.
According to him, the first place in uranium production by companies is occupied by Kazatomprom - 11 thousand tons. This is 20.5% of the total world production. The Kazakh company is followed by the French Oralni - 5,8 thousand tons (10,8%).
"Given that the only producer of natural uranium in Uzbekistan is the Navoi mining and metallurgical plant, we can say with confidence that the plant is one of the largest producers of uranium in the world," Nurmat Julibekov said.
The share of uranium in the company's export structure is 99.5%. The plant sells raw materials to Itochu and Marubeni (Japan), Nukem, Inc. (USA), and KHNP (South Korea).
