Uzbekistan to build plant for synthesis of pharmaceutical substances
The Navoi free Economic zone in Uzbekistan has plans to commission a plant for the synthesis of pharmaceutical substances against coronavirus. The project, implemented jointly by the Shanghai Institute of Pharmacology, was on the agenda of an online meeting with the Minister of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan and scientists from China engaged in chemical developments.
The parties exchanged views on accelerating the implementation of the project to create an Uzbek-Chinese medical technology park for the synthesis of medicines in the Navoi region.
Chinese scientists also presented the latest drug VV116 ("Remindevir") against the COVID-19, developed by the Shanghai Institute of Matter.
According to scientists, "Remindevir" is a new form of Remdesivir, which is characterized by low side effects and will be available in the form of tablets.
The drug is currently undergoing clinical trials, and upon completion of the research, it will be produced at a plant in the Navoi free economic zone.
"The pharmaceutical plant, which is planned to be built in the Karmana district of Navoi region, will become the first enterprise in Uzbekistan that will carry out chemical synthesis of substances of medicines," said Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov, Minister of Innovative Development.
