Italy to cooperate with Central Asian countries in promoting cargo transportation

According to the statistics, the exports volume between Italy and Central Asia exceed $2 billion dollars. Italy aims to increase these numbers by promoting the Middle Corridor with Azerbaijan and Central Asian region. The country is also interested to cooperate in the field of water resource management and ecology.

A conference was held in the Italian Parliament's Senate on The Middle Corridor: A safe transit route between Italy, Azerbaijan, and Central Asia. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, along with members of parliament, analysts, and diplomatic heads from Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan participated. The discussion highlighted the importance of Italian business exploring the rapidly developing Central Asian region, citing exports exceeding $2 billion. The potential for Italian industries was also emphasized to engage with the production capacity and energy resources of Central Asian republics and vice versa, offering opportunities for mutual benefits. The conference discussed the positive experiences of Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan in promoting the Trans-Caspian international transport route, also known as the "Middle Corridor."

President of the Italian Asian Institute emphasized the strategic importance of the corridor connecting Italy with East Asia and highlighted the European Union's commitment to invest €10 billion in sustainable transport links in Central Asia. Edmondo Cirielli expressed Italy's readiness to contribute to the development of transport infrastructure and support the economy of the entire Central Asian region. Ambassador Abat Fayzullayev highlighted Uzbekistan's strategy for transport system development until 2035, emphasizing the priority of establishing the Trans-Caspian Corridor. He also mentioned advancements in cargo transportation mechanisms and proposed extending similar practices along the entire "Middle Corridor." Finally, large-scale projects like the "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" and "Termez-Mazari-Sharif-Kabul-Peshowar" railway constructions in Uzbekistan and its partner countries were discussed as urgent for the republic.
