President of Uzbekistan receives U.S. Congressional delegation

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a U.S. delegation led by Congresswoman Carol Miller, a member of the Parliamentary Caucus on Cooperation with Uzbekistan. They discussed strengthening the strategic partnership and expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States.

At the start of the meeting, Carol Miller conveyed greetings and best wishes from the U.S. President, Congress leaders, and caucus members. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the high level of bilateral cooperation, ongoing political dialogue, and active interagency exchanges. In recent years, trade and investment volumes have significantly increased, and business ties have strengthened.

Webster University and the American University of Technology operate in Tashkent, and cooperation continues in transport, customs, migration, culture, and other key areas. Carol Miller praised Uzbekistan’s reform strategy, including economic modernization, democratic institution-building, parliamentary development, and gender equality efforts.

The discussion also focused on expanding interparliamentary cooperation to support economic and investment projects, particularly in mining, industry, energy, and agriculture. Both sides emphasized the importance of building partnerships between Uzbekistan’s regions and U.S. states.

Additionally, they exchanged views on regional issues, including the situation in Afghanistan.
