Uzbek government develops national honesty standard

In Uzbekistan, a national standard of honesty will be developed for state bodies, organizations, and the private sector. This initiative is outlined in the roadmap for implementing the National Anti-Corruption Strategy until 2030 during 2024-2025.

The introduction of the national honesty standard, also known as the public integrity institute, will involve collaboration between the Agency for Combating Corruption, the Ministry of Justice, the Prosecutor General's Office, and other relevant ministries and agencies.

By December 2024, these entities will draft a legal document for the implementation of the national honesty standard in state and private sectors.  The standard will be crafted in accordance with international conventions, agreements, and recommendations, drawing on the expertise of various international organizations.

Additionally, a National Integrity Index will be established to assess the level of integrity, and appropriate measures will be taken based on the assessment results, following established principles, criteria, mechanisms, and procedures.

This initiative aims to enhance anti-corruption mechanisms, drawing on the experiences of other nations. Discussions on the draft document will continue until March 27.
