Representatives of customs, border and other departments responsible for strengthening the infrastructure in border areas of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan attended a working meeting held at the customs post “Yallama” on 9 December.
The meeting was organized pursuant to the Roadmap for the reconstruction and modernization of border crossing points, highways and development of the surrounding area on the Uzbek-Kazakh state border, which was signed during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev to Uzbekistan in September this year.
The Roadmap first of all set to increase the capacity of key border crossing points located on the border with the Republic of Kazakhstan, will create most favorable conditions for the rapid and comfortable movement both for individuals moving on foot or in private vehicles and for freight carriers following transit routes through the territory of two neighboring countries.
According to the approved plan, the busiest border crossing points with international status, which are located on the Uzbek-Kazakh border, will undergo reconstruction, expansion and improvement during 2018-2019.
