Uzbekistan proposes ban on unlicensed electric scooter riding

Uzbekistan Proposes Ban on Unlicensed Electric Scooter Riding. According to the document, from 2024, owners of scooters with a design speed of more than 25 km/h and an engine volume of more than 25 cubic centimeters will have to undergo state registration.

Persons holding a driving license in the relevant category will be allowed to drive state-registered vehicles. The legislation will introduce the notion of "individual vehicles", such as electric scooters, electric skateboards, Segways, unicycles, and other vehicles traveling on one or more wheels or rollers.

It is proposed to prohibit the driving of individual vehicles by people under the age of 14. The movement of electric scooters on pavements, pedestrian, or bicycle paths should be at a speed not exceeding 6 kilometers per hour, and in their absence, movement on the right edge of the road is allowed at a speed not exceeding 20 kilometers per hour.
