2022 Pulitzer Prize winners announced in US

On May 9, New York City announced the winners of the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Journalism. Among its laureates are The Washington Post and The New York Times, Miami Herald and Tampa Bay Times.
Also, the Pulitzer Prize Council awarded a special prize to Ukrainian journalists for courage and "commitment to truthful reporting."
According to the assessments, Ukrainian journalists deserve special thanks for "persistently trying to provide an accurate picture of the terrible reality, doing honour to Ukraine and journalists around the world." The Washington Post received the award for reporting on the Capitol invasion in January 2021.
Along with them, The New York Times received an award for international and national reporting. In the first article, the journalists talked about the deaths among the civilian population in the Middle East (Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan) as a result of American shelling, in the second - about American drivers killed by police officers during detentions.
The editorial staff of the Miami Herald received the Urgent Reporting Award for their coverage of the derailment of the Champlain Towers South condominium. The Pulitzer Prize Board also awarded the Tampa Bay Times editors for their investigative reporting on highly toxic waste at Florida's only battery recycling plant.
The Pulitzer Prize is one of the most prestigious awards in literature, journalism, music, and theatre in the United States, founded by Hungarian-American journalist and newspaper publisher Joseph Pulitzer.
Since 1917, the award has been presented annually by the Trustees of Columbia University in New York. The amount of the award was $10,000/, and since 2017 it has grown to $15,000.
The 19-member Pulitzer Board includes leading journalists or news executives across the United States, as well as five academics or artists.
