Fines for illegal tree cutting increased by 5 times

According to the Law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislations of the Republic of Uzbekistan," fines for cutting or damaging trees have been increased significantly.

Citizens who illegally cut, damage, or transplant trees will face fines ranging from 25 to 50 times the BCA, which is from 8,500,000 to 17,000,000 soums, while officials will be fined from 50 to 75 times the BCA, i.e., from 17,000,000 to 25,500,000 soums.

Repeated offenses within a year may result in the confiscation of items used in the offense and increased fines, with citizens facing fines from 50 to 75 times the BCA (25,500,000 to 34,000,000 soums) and officials from 75 to 100 times the BCA (25,500,000 to 34,000,000 soums) or up to 15 days of administrative detention.

Officials responsible for project documents leading to tree cutting will be fined from 50 to 75 times the BCA, i.e., from 17,000,000 to 25,500,000 soums. Additionally, fines ranging from 100 to 300 times the BCA (34,000,000 to 102,000,000 soums) will be imposed for illegal cutting of valuable tree varieties not part of the state forest fund.
