Over 300 Uzbek students to study at Chinese universities

Uzbek-Chinese educational forum was held in Beijing. It was attended by 37 rectors of leading higher education institutions of Uzbekistan and 110 from China. The event was organized in the form of a plenary session and 4 panel sessions.

At the beginning of the Forum, First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation and Deputy Minister of Education of the People's Republic of China met and talked about the role of the event and high-level visit in the development of bilateral relations. The parties also discussed the prospects for the development of co-operation. 

70 bilateral documents were signed between higher education institutions of the two states, agreements were reached between 5 higher education institutions on the establishment of joint educational programs. Within the framework of this joint education program, over 300 students will be able to study at advanced universities in China.

- Memorandums and terms of co-operation with 3 technical universities in Uzbekistan were formed within the Forum. We are also co-operating with Fergana Polytechnic University.  To date, there was only a dual recognition programme for bachelor's degrees. Now we are also creating master's, doctoral and research programmes- Zhang LIFEN - Rector of North China University of Technology

Agreements were reached at the Forum to establish grant programmes for more than 100 students of Uzbekistan.

The Beijing Declaration on cooperation between higher education institutions of Uzbekistan and China was adopted at the forum. The declaration envisages the creation of an institutional platform between higher education institutions of China and Uzbekistan, the formation of a model of Sino-Central Asian educational cooperation, further development of academic exchange programmes, joint research and implementation of innovative projects.
