‘The interests of a small circle of people should not prevail over the interests of nation’, Chair of the Republican Council for Working with International Ratings and Indices Tanzila Narbaeva said during the discussion with Finance Minister Timur Ishmetov. At the same time, according to the results of the first half of the year, government spending has reached 25% of GDP, and debt increased by 11% compared to the beginning of the year and hit $ 17.3 billion.
The Index of Economic Freedom has ranked Uzbekistan 114th among 186 countries, while others show higher in position. For example, the Republic has scored 98.9 points out of 100 on the “fiscal health” indicator and 91.6 points on the “tax burden” indicator.
