Tashkent subway carries 68.5 million passengers in 5 months
The passenger traffic recorded in May alone was more than the entire population of Belgium.
Tashkent Metro transported over 68 million passengers in five months. The growth rate of passengers increased by more than 130%, which is 51 million more people compared to the same period last year.
The figures for each month are as follows: In January, 10 million 400 thousand passengers registered, followed by 13 million 700 thousand in February. In March, the passenger flow continued to rise, with 14 million 600 thousand people using the subway. Although the passenger numbers slightly dropped in April, with 14 million passengers recorded, the figures quickly picked up in May, with the highest recorded passenger traffic of 15 million 800 thousand. To put this into perspective, the passenger traffic recorded in May alone was more than the entire population of Belgium, which is around 11.6 million people.
