Tashkent to build special corridors for high-speed buses
In a draft resolution to enhance the city's passenger transport and road-transport infrastructure, Tashkent to establish express bus corridors on four major streets. The initiative aims to optimize existing highways and provide faster and more efficient transportation options for residents. Foreign experience will be used on this plan.
To facilitate seamless traffic flow, a coordinated management system for traffic lights will be implemented, and intersections will be reassessed to maximize their efficiency. Based on thorough analysis of traffic accident statistics, various measures will be undertaken, including the integration of regulated crosswalks into the traffic signal control system, the establishment of safety islands, and designated areas for passenger pick-up and drop-off.
The preliminary pre-project schemes and solutions expected to be developed within two months following the decree's adoption. The selection of the project executor will be finalized within the same timeframe.
Funding for the initiative will be derived from several sources, including the excess portion of local budget revenues, fines collected for traffic violations, the "Safe and Smooth Road" fund, and the Fund for the Development of Transport and Logistics.
