Uzbek citizens to test their language level at GTC

From March 1, 2022, every citizen of Uzbekistan will be able to determine their level of foreign language proficiency in the State Testing Center (GTC) by leaving an online application on the Unified Portal of Interactive Public Services (EPIGU). This system for German, French, and Arabic languages will be introduced from November 1, 2022.

Advantages of introducing this measure:

- the requirement from the applicant for a copy of a 3.5 x 4.5 cm photograph and a document confirming payment for public service is canceled;

- exam dates are published on the website of the SCT, and the applicant will be given the right to choose the exam date independently;

- the time for publishing test results is reduced from 3 to 1 week;

- a qualification certificate or certificate is sent to the applicant within 1 working day from the date of publication of the result.

For each of the existing levels (A2, B1, B2, C1), a generalized multi-level (Multi-level) testing system (B1, B2, C1) is introduced in addition to a separate exam procedure.

"In accordance with the Regulations, the applicant independently fills out the questionnaire through the EPIGU. Confirmation of the questionnaire with an electronic digital signature is not required," the message clarifies.

How does it work?

The request is automatically sent to the SCT (authorized body) through the EPIGU. Further, the SCT notifies applicants about the place and exact time of the qualification exam 3 days before the exam date.

The level of proficiency in a foreign language is determined by a test, written work, and an assessment of conversational skills. The qualification exam can be conducted on paper or on a computer.

When passing the exam, the applicant must present the original passport, identity card, or birth certificate.

The qualification test for each level consists of:

- 30 questions in each of the sections "listening" and "reading";

- 2 written tasks in the "written work" section (depending on the level, the first task is 30-150 words, the second task is 50-250 words);

- 3 types of tasks in the "conversational speech" section.
