Uzbek national volleyball team wins “CAVA-2024” tournament
From October 6 to 12, Sri Lanka hosted the Central Asian Volleyball Association youth tournament. Uzbekistan’s national volleyball team secured first place in the competition. Upon their return, a warm welcome awaited them at Islam Karimov International Airport, where officials of Ministry of Internal Affairs, family members, and media representatives greeted the athletes with great enthusiasm.
In a series of exciting and intense matches, Uzbekistan’s team defeated strong opponents, including Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka, on their way to the final. In the decisive match, Uzbek team faced Nepal’s national team and won with a 3-1 victory. This victory marks the first time Uzbekistan has won the championship under the CAVA tournament framework.
The team captain was recognized as the tournament’s Best Setter. Additionally, Ogabek Haydarov, another key player, received the Most Valuable Player award, while Saidjamol Mirobiddinov was named Best Attacker.
