Uzbekistan Declares Monthly “Theatre Day” to Promote Cultural Engagement
On December 22, during a meeting chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev, it was proposed to designate one day each month as "Theatre Day" in offices and institutions across Uzbekistan. The president emphasized the importance of leaders setting an example in cultural engagement, suggesting that employees should attend theaters. The Ministry of Culture was tasked with creating and approving a program to develop theater art, including supporting playwrights, training theater staff abroad, and establishing the Mannon Uyghur Award.
The president expressed gratitude to artists working to develop Makom art and highlighted support for Bakhshis promoting folk art masterpieces. Plans include digitizing over 3,000 epics and folklore works, emphasizing the use of digitization in art popularization. Additionally, schools will be established to preserve 12 unique cultural heritage examples, such as makom, big singing, bakhshiki, atlas and adras, pottery, and jewelry.
