Aksa Enerji to channell $900mn towards new power plants in Uzbekistan

Turkish power company Aksa Enerji is expanding the scope of its natural gas combined cycle (CCGT) power investments by building two more plants in Uzbekistan`s Tashkent and Bukhara regions.

According to a decree inked by president Shavkat Mirziyoyev on March 4, the investor and the project companies have agreed to channel foreign direct investment (FDI in the amount of $450 million for each project with the assumption of possible risks.

In the Tashkent region, Aksa plans to build a combined-cycle power plant with a capacity of 240 MW and a gas-piston power plant with a capacity of 230 MW. The capacity of a gas-piston power plant in Bukhara is set to comprise 270.

The sale of the energy generated at the Bukhara power plant is to be based on a guaranteed capacity payment for a duration of 25 years.
