Austria to help Uzbekistan boost trade and cooperation with EU
Kerer expressed the full support of the Austrian side for Uzbekistan's intention in obtaining the status of a beneficiary of the GSP+system.
Uzbekistan's Ambassador to Austria Abat Fayzullayev met with the Minister's adviser, Director of the department for multilateral trade policy of the Ministry of economy and digitalization of Austria Juliane Kerer.
The parties discussed priority areas in the framework of cooperation to obtain the status of a beneficiary of the GSP+ system for Uzbekistan, as well as issues on the bilateral and multilateral agenda.
The GSP+ system (Generalized System of Preferences) is part of the common system of preferences of the European Union. It offers beneficiary countries zero tariff rates for exports to the EU for more than 6,200 commodity items.
Kerer expressed the full support of the Austrian side for Uzbekistan's intention in obtaining the status of a beneficiary of the GSP+system.
She also noted the positive and friendly approach of her European colleagues on the issue of bringing trade and economic cooperation with Uzbekistan to a qualitatively new level. She expressed confidence that Uzbekistan will receive this status as soon as possible and will become one of the main partners of the EU.
