GDP growth in first half year expected at 5.4%

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a meeting devoted to the analysis of the work carried out on the socio-economic development of the country, as well as the results and qualitative changes expected in this direction in the first half of this year.

The meeting noted that as a result of active investment policy, attracting primarily foreign direct investments into the economy and the regions, as well as the introduction and consistent implementation of new effective mechanisms of full assistance to entrepreneurs and investors, high rates of economic growth are provided. Thus, it is expected that in the first half of the year the volume of gross domestic product will grow by 5.4 percent, industrial production - by 7 percent, construction and contracting works - by 9.6 percent, and the volume of services - by 13.9 percent. It is particularly emphasized that in achieving such results, an important factor is, first of all, the almost 1.5-fold increase in the volume of disbursed investments.

However, it is pointed out that there are not yet fully utilized reserves and opportunities in all sectors and regions. The relevant managers are given specific tasks to create modern enterprises and new jobs, increase production and export of products. It was instructed to expand the revenue base of local budgets, to channel additional revenues to the development of social and communal spheres, improvement of villages and makhallas, improvement of the life of the population as a whole.

In particular, it was instructed to take additional measures to accelerate the implementation of programs and specific investment projects developed within the framework of the President's visits to the regions, as well as to form new projects.
