Mirziyoyev: there is no future for the country's economy without digital economy

The regular video conference chaired by President Mirziyoyev on Tuesday was devoted to the implementation of reforms within the framework of the Year of development of science, education and digital economy. Mirziyoyev promised bonuses to salaries of mayors who achieve exemplary results in digitalization issues.

- There is no future for the country's economy without the digital economy. Heads of regions and industries must realize this. Managers at all levels should define this issue as their daily task, and thoroughly study the sphere of digitalization from the very basics – " Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

People should feel changes in reducing bureaucracy and corruption, and speeding up the provision of public services.

Mayors of districts and cities will deal exclusively with digitalization issues 2-3 days a month. Their performance will be evaluated based on the level of digitalization achieved in their region. Managers who achieve exemplary results will receive salary bonuses of up to 30 percent.

A new "Electronic polyclinic" system to be implemented in the healthcare sector set to reduce paperwork in medical institutions by 40 percent, and queues – by 60 percent.

Over the next three years, it is planned to implement 18 digitalization projects in the oil and gas and energy sectors, 9 projects in the automotive industry, 8 in the chemical industry, and 4 projects in the mining and geological sectors.

The projects, as expected, will be financed by international financial institutions.

It is planned to open 205 IT schools throughout the country.

The Ministry of public education and the Ministry for the development of information technologies and communications have been instructed to create 14 specialized schools this year and 82 such schools next year.
