Uzbekistan imports almost 1000 tons of "second-hand" clothes from Kazakhstan
Uzbekistan ranks second after Tajikistan in terms of buying clothes from Kazakhstan.
The sale of used clothes in Kazakhstan has increased 60 times in recent years. According to the statistics of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance, in 2022, more than 50 thousand tons of worn clothes, shoes and accessories were exported. Thus, Kazakhstan is increasing the export of used clothes.
Tajikistan has become the main consumer of Kazakh clothes. That is, 98% of all old clothes are imported by this country, and Uzbekistan buys the rest.
According to customs statistics on import, during the last five years, the main part of second-hand consumer goods was brought to Kazakhstan from European countries: the Netherlands, Germany, and even Belgium and Finland. Some goods are brought from Russia. Last year alone, nearly 2,000 tons of obsolete products were imported into the country.
