Uzbekistan puts sites with minerals up for auction

The Uzbek government has put sites rich in uranium, gold and tungsten under the hammer.

Bidding for sites with uranium in the Navoi region is to be conducted in two lots. The area of the first one is 46.3 hectares with a starting price of UZS 1.3bn ($121,179), the territory of the second is 285.7 hectares, the starting price exceeds UZS 6bn ($559,291).

A site with gold deposits in the Uchkuduk district is also proposed for sale. The starting price of the 27.4-hectare plot is UZS 189.3mn ($17,645).

Applications for the above lots are accepted until October 12, while the auction will be held on October 14.

Another site with tungsten reserves is located in the Samarkand region. The 1,833-hectare plot area’s starting price is UZS 9.6bn ($894,867).

The auction is scheduled for October 18.

The winners of the auctions will receive a license to use these deposits.
